#YPAG22 Spotlight on Emma Lacey

6/6/2022

As part of the Young People Are Great campaign we are shining the spotlight on our very own Emma Lacey. Emma joined us from high school just over 4 years ago as a Apprentice in Business Administration and is now our Business Support and Communications Officer.
“I originally stayed on at school for S6 but I knew I wanted to be out in the world of work. A Modern Apprenticeship seemed like the obvious route for me as I enjoy learning in a practical and when the DYW Business Support role came up, it sounded perfect so I applied and have been with the team ever since. My role has developed throughout the years, with each year comes a new challenge and more responsibility which I love.”

Emma made it through her first apprenticeship in less than a year, demonstrating exceptional organisational skills, a flare in graphic design and a will to learn and develop further.  After a very short break from apprenticeship number one Emma embarked on apprenticeship number two. The taste for marketing, graphic design and digital communications had captured Emma’s imagination and she was keen to develop further skills and to demonstrate professional competency in this area. After careful consideration of options the Modern Apprenticeship in Digital Marketing was hailed the next step. Emma really enjoyed the flexibility a Modern Apprenticeship gave her, to learn on the job and experience professional development through courses and online content at times that could fit around work, it definitely has its benefits for us as the employer too.

Turn the clock forward to now and Emma is currently leading on creating and delivering communications and marketing, helping us keep focused on what we should do, what has impact and keeping us in check with branding! She also manages our events and business support. Our digital communications have gone from strength to strength, our website is looking fantastic and as a team we feel stronger now with Emma’s specialist skill set contributing to our daily work.

Emma has found her career path through experiencing the world of work and apprenticeships and has also started to build her own business too.
