Networking Breakfast

6/7/2022

On 5th April 2022, DYW Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian and Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce hosted our first joint Networking Breakfast at the Apex Hotel, Waterloo Place.
This event was for those who were looking to find out more about how they can work with education to help Inform, Inspire and Hire young people in education who are thinking about their next steps and included a welcome and introduction from our Programme Director Susie Higgins, followed by a panel discussion with Zen Consultants, a Career Ready student and Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and finally provided the opportunity to network with other attendees and move round the various stands of key organisations that support young people, including:

  • DYW Edinburgh, Midlothian & East Lothian
  • MCR Pathways
  • Enable
  • JET Academy
  • Edinburgh College
  • Career Ready
  • Skills Development Scotland
  • Young Person's Guarantee
  • Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce

Attendees were asked what the best part of the event was, here are some of the things they said:

“Networking with different individuals and gaining new contacts to work alongside”

“Meeting the Career Path Stand, and hearing Katie Share her journey. I didn't have the time to go and say hello to the Edinburgh College Stand which I wish I had managed to at least say hello.”

“Variety of stalls”

“The amount of connections I made with people in the networking session”

“The panel was fantastic - lovely to hear of apprenticeship successes.”

Attendees were also asked to give one word to describe the event, they said the event was; worthwhile, inspirational, informative, interesting, productive and wonderful.

Overall the event was a great success, and was a great way for us to get back to in person events!
