INSPIRING YOUNG MINDS WEBINAR

23/7/2020

At DYW we have seen the positive impact of when businesses are involved in informing and inspiring young people while they are still in education. For employers, engagement in schools and colleges supports talent attraction and can build industry and brand awareness. This engagement helps to build young people’s skills for both work and life, adds relevance to their academic work and raises their career aspirations.
‘Inspiring Young Minds’ will increase your confidence to discuss your industry to a young audience and provide you with top tips to plan and deliver activities in school or college. It is designed to support individuals who currently engage with or would like to engage with young people in schools and colleges.

By the end of this session, you will:

  • Understand the benefits to employers of engaging with education
  • Have increased confidence in delivering sessions to inspire young minds
  • Understand the types of activities that can be offered and how to connect with education
  • Know what to expect when delivering a session in a classroom or education setting
  • Explore practical hints, tips and solutions for how to plan and deliver activities in school or college
  • Have unlimited access to a bank of free resources that have been designed for delivering sessions in school or college

‘Inspiring Young Minds’ is delivered by Bryan Leslie. Bryan is an experienced Business Trainer, Coach and Consultant. Bryan designs and delivers training courses for the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, is an accredited coach and trainer, and qualified in DISC personality and PIAV personal motivator profiling. His main areas of expertise are:

  • Building confidence to take the action that is needed to grow and develop yourself and your business
  • Growing leadership and management skills throughout organisations
  • Facilitating behavioural change through high impact training
  • Project and programme management
  • Developing high performance teams
  • Understanding key financial concepts relevant to your role in the organisation

“Work experience and other forms of employer engagement demonstrate to young people the links between what they do in the classroom and how those skills ultimately will be used in the labour market. For young people, and for their teachers, that is a great motivator.” – Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
